The Us Campaign came to Denver tonight (3/7) to spread the word and to raise funds for Morgan Carroll. It did both.
It also exposed the hypocrisy of two of Colorado’s Democratic Party Stalwarts: Congresswoman Diana DeGette and Congressman Ed Perlmutter.
It was a pleasure to make a contribution to Morgan Carroll’s campaign. Colorado’s 6th Congressional District needs to elect Carroll to Congress and to retire former Gov. Bill Owens’ protege Mike Coffman from Congress.
Without question We the People need to take back control of Congress and restore Power to the People. Doing so was the message of Maryland Congressman John Sarbanes, the principal speaker at The Us Campaign (See www.TheUsCampaign.com).
The clarion call (which to some of us sounded too much like a Trumpet call) was that the rich and powerful control Congress and the little guys are being ignored.
It was a message that resonated with the audience. The number of Bernie shirts, buttons and paraphernalia made it clear that those feeling the Bern were the good folks who turned out to hear the word and support Morgan Carroll.
What was also PAINFULLY CLEAR to anyone who stayed to talk with DeGette and Perlmutter was the sad and discouraging fact that neither of these two are prepared to practice what they were preaching. Sen. Sanders won not just in Colorado, but was the clear choice of the majority of caucus goers in their districts. But both made it clear that they have no intention of representing the will of the majority of caucus goers in their districts nor across Colorado.
NOPE, elected representatives who are be designated as “super delegates” by virtue of their position of power and prominence within the party organization are immune from the rules by which common delegates, chosen by a vote of their caucus going peers.
Asking people to support a dot.com group that claims that it is working to restore power to the little-people — to the common women and men across America — while at the same time disdainfully refusing to support the candidate that the majority of caucus goers in both their respective districts and across the state have chosen, is emblematic of the Politics of Arrogance that is rampant in Congress.
Kudos to the young women who had surrounded DeGette and were demanding that she explain how she could extol the evils of SuperPACs purchasing candidates, while she herself is supporting a candidate who is in debt to SuperPACs and the dark money of B/Gangster Lloyd Blankfein.
Kudos to the folks who were asking the same of Perlmutter.
These two hypocrites pander for money for TheUsCampaign claiming that the Super Wealthy are corrupting our democratic system even as they are pledged to ignore the voice of the common men and women of their state and districts and support the Party Machine’s favorite candidate — the one taking as much money as she can from SuperPACs and Wall Street B/Gangsters.
If you went to your caucus and supported Sen. Sanders call these two and tell them to practice what they preach.
They need to pledge to support Sen. Sanders at the national Democratic convention.
DeGette — 303-8454-4988
Perlmutter — 303-274-7944
Conspicuous by his absence was Colorado’s Mr. Wall Street Dem — Jared Polis — 303-484-9596.
