I Accept the Kos Invitation

Attended a Colorado Kos Community gathering today @ The Merc.   (Do the denizens of North Denver still call The Mercury Cafe -- The Merc?) There I was both invited and challenged to join in the Kos Communities conversations by "Logging In" and then posting diary entries and sharing comments.

I accept!

Call me The Absurb Artist, because creating absurd art is what I now do to fill my days and participate in the economy.  Yep, I'm an artist.  A liberal artist too boot.

Looking forward to becoming a regularly contributing member of the Kos communities not just in Colorado, but Kos-wide.

A few observations regarding today's community meeting at The Merc.

To the woman who proudly and unabashedly proclaimed she was a Hillary Rodham Clinton (HRC) supporter -- when it was clear that the vast majority of us in attendance are feeling the Bern and committed to Sen. Sanders -- You go girl.  My domestic partner is with you.  She's a proud and committed HRC supporter.

To the young woman who has connections to the DNC who said that we're stuck with Mr. Mike Bennet because the Party money people are committed to Mr. Bennet, I'd like to know more about your assertion that Colorado got stuck with Bennet because then Gov. Ritter wanted to get the support of Bennet's monied backers.  I'd also like to know more about your assertion that Bennet's bankers rejected Ritter, which was a key reason for his decision not to seek a second term.  If true, Coloradoans need to know this bit of Colorado political history.  If true it speaks volumes about Bennet (and Ritter).

To the woman who suggested that we need to once again amend the Colorado Constitution to protect local communities from outsiders who object to whatever it the locals have done... In my Progressive opinion what Colorado desperately needs is a Constitutional Convention in order to be rid of an over amended constitution that is, frankly, a MESS!

More power to Sen. Aguilar (MD), but please don't put any more into the Constitution that is absolutely needed to achieve your goal.

And to our guest who questioned the existence of toll roads.  Well when I was a kid it cost a quarter to drive from Denver to Boulder (15-cents if you took the Broomfield exit), and EVERY CAR paid.  Had Colorado had Progressive leaders when the Boulder Toll Road (what some us old times still call US Highway 36) was paid for, they would have rejected the provision that the toll be terminated, and a Progressive leadership would have kept the toll in place and used the money to pay for maintenance and future improvements.  Had such progressive leadership acted, the current MESS of an UBER-expensive fast lane next to congested "slow" lanes wouldn't exist.

Finally, here's a basic progressive idea for our state KOS leadership to consider:  When you say you're going to start at 1PM, start at 1PM not 1:37PM.  If you can't be counted upon to start a meeting on time, what can we count upon you to do?
