Dear Mr. Mike Bennet & Mr. Cory Gardner:
Here in Colorado we have been terrorized in movie theaters, at pizza parlors, along Ken Bucks county roads, along sidewalks near college campuses and even in high schools. Not once has the gunman been a widow or orphan seeking refuge in this country from Muslim terrorist in their home country.
Each of these home grown terrorist have been able to obtain their arsenals of terror from local gun shop, because you and your colleges in Congress lack the courage to require any sort of background investigation that is a fraction as rigorous as is currently imposed upon widows, orphans and even husbands and fathers attempting to flee the terrorism of Islamic theocrats in the un-holy lands of the eastern Mediterranean and the once fertile crescent (once known as Persia).
So, before we impose ever more rigorous background investigations upon widows and orphans seeking refuge from the ravages of Islam, let us first clean up our own dirty closet and impose background checks on every Tom, Dick and Dirty Harry who thinks that the 2nd Amendment was written to protect them from their fears and insecurities, rather than to ensure that WELL REGULATED militias are maintained. The key, as the founding fathers clearly expressed is good REGULATION>
After we have taken action to ensure that our homegrown malcontents and miscreants are thoroughly vetted before they can obtain firearms, which by the way would ensure that foreigners sneaking across our northern boarders of stowing away on poorly regulated ships from abroad are not able to obtain weapons at a Lakewood or Colorado Springs or Fort Morgan gun shops, then we can turn our attention to the poverty and income inequity that is resulting in more violence on our streets than any of the Islamic theocrats who have been slaughtering hundreds (or is it thousands) of their neighbors in countries that failed American foreign policy has destabilized.
